How To Choose The Correct Rod.

Choosing the correct fly rod is the first step in having an enjoyable fly fishing experience.  Here at Shelbyville we manufacture several different series of rods in many different lengths and line weights.  We are certain that we have a rod for every fishing situation.

Here are a few questions you'll need to ask yourself when choosing the correct rod:

1.  Will I be spending most of my time fishing for Trout (Steelhead & Salmon), Warm Water or Saltwater species?

2.  What will be the size and or type of flies will I be using?  As a general rule, smaller flies lighter line weights, larger flies heavier line weights.

3.  What type of rod action do I prefer?  Here at Shelbyville we offer ultra-light to extra fast action rods.

4.  What is the correct length for my fishing situation?  Again, as a general rule, shorter rods for smaller rivers and streams, longer rods for bigger rivers, lakes and saltwater use.
